Here in West Virginia, it’s oil and gas day at the state capitol and industry leaders joined lawmakers this morning to discuss the benefits and positive impacts of the energy sector.  Providing clean reliable sources is a top priority for the Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia, which formed recently after two different organizations merged.  Officials say West Virginia is the fifth largest energy producer in the nation and believe that both our state and country can do their respective parts to meet the demand.

“What better time for West Virginia to step up, to produce more oil, produce more natural gas, produce more natural gas liquids to satisfy the energy needs of West Virginia, our region and the United States,” said Gas and Oil Association of WV Executive Director Charlie Burd.

Now, so far, three pieces of energy-related less legislation have been passed, including Senate Bill 694.  The event continues until 3:00 today.
