Charleston, W.Va. – July 3, 2025 – The Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia (GO-WV) issued the following statement as Congress passed the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act and sent to President Trump for his signature.
“West Virginia is fortunate to have among the most dedicated congressional leaders in the nation – leaders who understand our state’s role as an energy powerhouse and fight every day to defend it,” said Charlie Burd, President of GO-WV. “This legislation, and the collaborative efforts to advance it, show they recognize how critical our natural gas and oil industries are in delivering affordable, reliable energy while creating jobs and driving investment across West Virginia.”
The bill proposes a range of measures designed to support expanding West Virginia’s energy industry, including delaying the punitive methane tax, supporting blue hydrogen development, and reversing the Biden Administration’s penalty on intangible drilling costs, marking a crucial step towards unlocking the full potential of West Virginia’s natural resources.
“We’re especially grateful to Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Jim Justice, as well as Congresswoman Carol Miller and Congressman Riley Moore for their continued leadership and steadfast support of West Virginia’s energy economy,” Burd added. “The bill creates a strategic path forward – one that unleashes West Virginia natural gas and oil, expands the end use opportunities of these valuable resources, and ensures products reach markets safely and efficiently.”
GO-WV remains committed to advocating for policies that promote the growth, innovation and responsible stewardship of West Virginia’s critical energy industries.
