On November 13, 2020 Governor Jim Justice announced updates to West Virginia’s indoor face covering requirement. The new Executive Order 77-20 requires all individuals age nine (9) and older to wear a face covering in all indoor public places.

Exceptions include when inside a residence, when individuals are able to physically isolate in a physically separated office or other space when no others are present, when in a restaurant and actively engaged in the consumption of food and or beverage, and for individuals who have trouble breathing or are unable to remove the face covering without assistance.

Under Executive Order 77-20, the previous exception allowing masks to be removed in such indoor places if adequate social distancing could be maintained no longer exists. The updated order went into effect Saturday, November 14.
