2024 GO-WV/Hope Gas Meeting on EPA and DOE Funding

Friday, May 31, 2024 | 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Zoom

This is your invitation to participate in a ZOOM meeting to discuss the EPA and DOE intent to fund methane emissions reduction projects.

Recently, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a Notice of Intent (NOI) to make funds available to help measure and reduce methane emissions from the oil and gas sectors.  This funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will be made available to help oil and natural gas sector operators cut methane emissions and transition to innovative methane emissions reduction technologies, while also supporting partnerships to improve emissions measurement and provide accurate, transparent data to impacted communities.

If released, the corresponding funding opportunity would focus on three areas:

  1. Mitigating methane emissions and reducing other air pollution associated with existing wells and infrastructure.
  2. Accelerating the deployment of innovative methane reduction solutions for reducing emissions from petroleum and natural gas systems.
  3. Characterizing and quantifying methane emissions from oil and natural gas operations across multiple, large geographical regions through the creation of regional methane emissions measurement and monitoring consortia.

Hope Gas, in unison with GO-WV, is spearheading an effort to apply for this funding.  An amount has not been finalized pending the breadth of participation that might be identified.  This may be a way for them, and others like them, to get federal dollars to identify and repair leaks, reduce emissions, and reduce lost and unaccounted for gas.  Funds awarded to accomplish such reductions would be provided directly to a single Primary Recipient for management and disbursement.

More complete details on the Notice of Intent to Issue Funding on Methane Emissions Reduction Program Oil and Gas Methane Monitoring and Mitigation (TDE-FOA-0003255) can be found here:  FedConnect: Opportunity Summary

GO-WV, in cooperation with Hope Gas, and Allegheny Science and Technology invite you to participate in a ZOOM presentation on Friday, May 31 at 1:30p to hear about and discuss this potential funding source to reduce well and pipeline emissions.  We will schedule this meeting to last no more than 90 minutes.

To participate, register below.   (Registration is limited to the first 100 respondents.) A link to the ZOOM will be sent to all registrants on the morning of May 31.

We hope you will consider joining in for details on this potential funding stream.
