February 18, 2026 — Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia (GO-WV) President-Elect Rebecca McPhail today released the following statement, reaffirming natural gas and gas-fired power generation are essential to maintaining grid reliability, affordable electricity, and economic growth across the state:
“West Virginia is rightly welcoming new natural gas power generation investment, as expanding in-state natural gas development and use is critical to our energy and economic future. It drives jobs, attracts capital, and keeps our state competitive in meeting America’s growing energy demand.
“We view all of West Virginia’s energy workers as partners in powering America, but efforts to frame our energy future as a choice between resources ignores the reality that natural gas is one of the strongest drivers of jobs, investment, and economic growth in our state. We are an energy state, and reliable, affordable power is the foundation of economic development. Natural gas generation delivers exactly that.”
