Scholarship Recipients
In 1997, GO-WV established its Scholarship Program in an effort to become more involved in higher education in West Virginia. The Scholarship Program was specifically created to reward the outstanding scholastic achievements of high school seniors whose parents work in the oil and natural gas industry for GO-WV membership companies. GO-WV also awards deserving high school “student employees” who have completed a required number of working hours at an GO-WV member company. Since the Scholarship Program’s inception, GO-WV has awarded over total of $230,000 in scholarships to these very deserving students. Beginning in 2020, we are offered two scholarships to students attending vocational and/or technical schools.
2015 Scholarship Recipients
The Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia (GO-WV) has awarded scholarships to eight outstanding high school seniors this spring. The recipients will be attending a four-year West Virginia school and at least one parent works for an GO-WV company.
Brandon Fazalare has been named to receive the Jim Gehr Scholarship given annually to the student who exhibits the greatest commitment to community service. Fazalare is graduating from Lincoln High School and will be attending West Virginia University. His father, Gary Fazalre, is employed by Stantec Consulting. His scholarship will be presented during school ceremonies May 28.
Victoria Endres has been named to receive the Brian Fox Scholarship which is funded by the Fox family to recognize his life and commitment to the oil and gas industry. Endres is graduating from St. Albans High School and will be attending Marshall University. Her father, Benjamin Endres, is employed by MRC. Her scholarship was presented during school ceremonies May 1.
Emily Trosclair has been named to receive the Rubin Scholarship. This scholarship, funded by Steve Rubin, Blue Creek Gas, honors Dan, Sam and Stan Rubin, for their contributions to the oil and gas industry in West Virginia. Trosclair is graduating from Hurricane High School and will be attending West Virginia University. Her father, Stephen Trosclair, is employed by Chesapeake Energy. Her scholarship will be presented during school ceremonies on May 28.
Johnathan Lancaster has been named to receive the Kenny Greenlief Scholarship, funded by Waco Oil & Gas. Lancaster is graduating from Tyler Consolidated High School and will be attending West Virginia University. His father, Randy Lancaster, is employed by Perkins Oil & Gas Co. His scholarship will be presented during school ceremonies on May 18.
Lauren Shelton has been named to receive the Dale Rettinger Scholarship. Shelton is graduating from George Washington High School and will be attending University of Charleston. Her parents, John and Jennifer Shelton, are employed by Columbia Pipeline Group. Her scholarship will be presented during school ceremonies May 15.
Megan Talbott has been named to receive an IOGAWV Scholarship. Talbott is graduating from South Harrison High School and will be attending Fairmont State University. Her father, Christopher Talbott, is employed by Dominion Transmisson. Her scholarship will be presented during school ceremonies on May 28.
Erin O’Leary has been named to receive an IOGAWV Scholarship. O’Leary is graduating from Wheeling Central Catholic High School and will be attending West Virginia University. Her father, Craig O’Leary, is employed by Regional Economic Development. Her scholarship will be presented during school ceremonies on May 20.
Holly Farkosh has been named to receive an IOGAWV Scholarship. Farkosh is graduating from Ripley High School and will be attending Marshall University. Her father, Randall Farkosh, is employed by Energy Corporation of America.
